ABBEY: I am the 6th generation of ABBEY’S to live in the Paso Robles area. The first generation is Thomas Frances ABBEY that lived near the Adelaide area and whose son Thomas Frances ABBEY II owned the Oak Flat Ranch (now known as the Jardine Ranch) in the late 1800. ALVA/DeALVA/DeALBA: I’m hunting for any info on the De ALBA family, this is the current name. It was ALVA and had been De ALVA. Manuel and Dolores, Children: Anita, Grover, Isabella, Mary Guadalupe, Julia, and Michael. They worked on the Hearst Ranch in the late 1880s and 1890s. Settled in Santa Margarita where Mary known as Lupe married a WILLIAMSON, Anita married an EDWARDS, and Isabella married a KUJAVA. I believe they ran a restaurant in Santa Margarita in the early 1900s. The girls remained in Santa Margarita till their deaths all being in the 1970s. Any and all information greatly appreciated. CHAPEK: My g-grandfather was John CHAPEK b. 1880s in Levin, Bohemia. He immigrated to US in late 1890s through the port at SLO (it had a different name then). I have been told that he came on his brother’s passport to avoid conscription. I don’t know his brother’s name. John did have a brother that also came to the US. He and his brother were contractors and built numerous homes that are considered historical today. John married Mary Sophia ANDERSON of San Fransisco. Both died 1930s and are buried at the SLO Catholic Cemetery, as is my grandfather Carl James CHAPEK. Would love to learn more about this family. — Dianna Chapek  12 Jun 1997

CHRISTENSEN: I am looking for more info on this family to add to my line. Lars CHRISTENSEN - born Mar 1845 in Denmark Died 1928? in Tempelton, CA. He Married Christine CHRISTENSEN aka STINE - born Mar 1845 in Denmark and died 1928 in Tempelton, CA They came to CA from Utah in covered wagon about May 1891. They had eight children and they all came with them to CA. Lars changed his name to Chris LARSON at some point. I have checked the 1900 census and they are listed on it. They came by way of Greenhornso my Grandmother says. I don’t know where that is. They went to Shandon and farmed wheat there. If you know anything more about this please let me know. COOK: Edward F. COOK b. abt 1828 in MA. wife Mary A. b. abt 1838 in PA, son Addison COOK b. April 23, 1870 San Luis Obispo Co., Ca., daughter Edith L. COOK b. abt 1875, San Luis Obispo Co., Ca. The COOK family resided and owned land in the Arroyo Grande area of the county from about 1870 to 1880 when they moved to Coos County Oregon. I have located a record of the land sale but not of the purchase. Also looking for any other records of the family during their residence in the county. I found notice of death but no info in the Overland Monthly California Record of Marriages & Deaths 1872. There should be a Mission S.L.O Mission record also. DUSI: I am in search of any information that I can receive on my Great Grandfather Lorenzo DUSI and Great Grandmother Maria VASQUES. I know they lived and borne their children in Santa Margaretta, CA. Maria died during child birth with her 4th child. She is buried in the Santa Margaretta Cemetery. Lorenzo is in the Paso Robles Cemetery. Lorenzo passed away in October 1950 and Maria April 1924. My grandmother, May Teresa DUSI, was adopted out but, did keep her given name. Robert b. 19 Dec 1860 in IL married Nettie Moore NORRIS 1882 in Santa Barbara Co., CA. He died 1920 in L.A. County, bur. Santa Maria, Santa Barbara Co. Children: Frederick Emmit EARL b. 1883 in Santa Maria, married Nellie ORAND 1904 in Nipomo, San Luis Obispo Co., CA. He died in King City, Monterey Co., CA 1935. LEO/LEONTYNE: I don’t know if you can help me. I am trying to locate any kind of birth records or general information on my grandfather, Harry LEO. I know he was born in San Luis Obispo, Ca in the early or mid 1880s. He always said his full name was “Harry Leontyne LEO”. I do not know if he shortened the LEONTYNE to come up with his last name or if LEO was actually the original surname. My grandmother’s name was Sarah Mariah LEO, but she was not his first wife. I do know that he had a twin sister, but have no knowledge of her name, nor that of his parents. He also lost his first wife and his daughters in the San Francisco earthquake. PHOENIX: I am looking for information the PHOENIX family that settled in Phoenix Canyon in the Lopez Lake area. The first PHOENIX’S I am aware of in this area were William PHOENIX and two brothers. They reportedly immigrated from Australia in the early 1800s. William had at least one son Alan or Allen PHOENIX who moved to the Orange County area in Newport Beach. Allen had two sons and two daughters, David, Craig, Chris and Cathrine. All grew up in the Newport Beach area. I am Michael, son of Craig. We still have property in the Arroyo Grande, Lopez Lake Area and plan to move there in about a year. REIS: I am looking for information on my maternal grandfathers side. His name was Louis John REIS and his parents were Mary SEAMAS(?) and Louis Machado REIS. Louis Machado REIS, I was told, his middle name was possibly his mothers maiden name. I’ve also been told stories that his grandfather sent back to Portugal for a wife after coming over on a whaling ship. The only other information I have is my grandfathers birthdate, Aug. 9, 1908. TEETERS: Looking for descendents of Thomas TEETERS and Angeline SPRINGER TEETERS. They lived in Cambria. My grandfather was John HACKNEY the town Blacksmith in the early 1870s.

WADE: I’m looking for a Hollis Michael WADE married to Theresa BRIZZOLARA in SLO around 1908. Bartolo BRIZZOLARA, who was a prominent merchant in SLO, I think is her brother. I’m also looking for verification of Theresa’s parents, probably Thomas (Santiago?) BRIZZOLARA and Mariana BARBERI. I think that Theresa passed away about 1911.
