JOHN WEST

Looking for info on John West who "kept" the Eagle Tavern at Boston Ravine during the gold rush. A John West of North Columbia was shot to death for claim jumping 6 March 1859 as reported in the Nevada Journal 11 March 1859. The story about the Eagle Tavern appeared in "Gleason's Pictorial Drawing Room Companion," as mentioned in the Nevada County Historical Society Bulletin, Jan. 2008 62:1. I'm interested in hearing from anyone with West ancestors in Nevada County--including the mining company of Niece and West in Little York township.
