Bidwell Chapel Funeral Home is the current (Aug. 1995) ownership and name of this mortuary.
History:
It began as Thomas Bicknell Funeral Home in 1896.
In 1901 it became T. Bicknell and F. M. Edgar Co. Funeral Home.
In ca. 1910 it became T. Bicknell & F. M. Edgar Co. and Fetters and Williams Funeral Home.
In 1913 to 1925 it was known as Fetter and Williams Funeral Home.
In ca. 1922 to 1925 it became Bicknell and Moore Funeral Home.
From 1925-1926 it was Fetter and Williams.
From 1939 to 1943 it was H. C. Bicknell Funeral Home.
From 1943 to 1947 it was Nugent Funeral Service.
From 1947 to 1959 it was Huddleston Chapel Funeral Home.
From 1959 to 1968 it was Timmons - Van Hook Funeral Home.
From 1968 to 1973 it was Hall - Van Hook Funeral Home,
...and in April 1994 it became Bidwell Chapel Funeral Home.
These name changes reflect a change in ownership through the years of the same funeral home.
Death records are California State Board of Health certificates of death.

Contains funeral home registers of funerals, showing name of the deceased, date, place and cause of death, age, occupation, residence, next of kin, spouse or children, names of parents, place of nativity, length of residency in California, etc.
Funeral information files include all papers pertaining to individual accounts.
These include record of funeral home services, orders for death certificates, copies of death certificates, orders for burial or transportation to another city or state, miscellaneous letters regarding insurances, parties responsible for payment, etc. Clippings of death notices or obituaries from newspapers, funeral program cards and memorials from fraternal or other organizations, etc.
