Ordering Death Certficates

Death records are available from approximately 1873 and can be ordered from the Napa Recorder-County Clerk's Office. You can order death certificates in person, by mail, by phone or online.

Order in Person
Visit the Recorder-County Clerk's Office at 1127 1st St., Ste A in Napa. (Map to County Clerk's Office.) Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. If you have any questions regarding the process, please call the office at 707-253-4105 (Recorder).

Order by Phone
Please call 707-253-4247 (Clerk) to order by phone. As of July 17, 2005, the County Clerk's website states:

"You may also use your Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card to order by mail or by phone. Please give the name of the Credit Card company, the complete credit card number, the expiration date and be sure to have the person in whose name the card is issued sign the request. A $5.00 processing fee for up to $100.00 of services will be added to all credit card transactions."

If paying by credit card, please read the instructions above entitled "Order by Phone". If paying by check, please note that personal checks are only accepted from California residents. A certified check or money order must accompany out-of-state requests. Mail your order to:
