A spray of Ivy above inscription. Light gray stone 3 1/2 ft. tall. White marble marker, bottom half only. No inscription showing. Wood fence post laying behind it. Believed to be the marker of Infant son of N.W. & Katie Boyd Born July 29, 1881 I. N. McKean Born Mar. 24, 1860 Died May 30, 1923 or 1928 Independent Order of Odd Fellows Emblem at top. (I.O.O.F.) E. Clampus Vitus. This marker placed in memory of William S. Bodey, discoverer of the Bodie Mines, who lies buried on this hillside. "Let him repose in peace amid these everlasting hills." Erected by Snowshoe Thompson Chapter ECV on Oct. 5, 1957 Bronze plaque in concrete. Bricks are laid in the form of a Cross and also outline the grave area. Another marker for Bodey was put in place on Sept. 6, 1976 by Boone's Memorials. "Buried here are the mortal remains of Waterman S. Bodey 1814-1859. Native of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Near here July 20, 1859 Bodey along with his partner and burro struck gold, four month's later returning with supplies, he lost his life in a blinding snow storm.
