Andy A. Gibson, the Sulphur creek mining man, in Colusa made the announcement that he will reopen the Abbot quicksilver mines at Sulphur creek this spring. The Abbott has a stormy career. At one time it was one of the best mines in the state, and many thousands of dollars in quicksilver have been shipped from it. About ten years ago a promoter plunged it into litigation. Since then it has laid idle, but now Mr. Gibson announces that he will reopen it, and Sulphur creek wil see a return of its former activity.

Sacramento Union, 23 Jan 1916: DISMISS INJUNCTION AGAINST TEN MEN

Special to the Union. COLUSA (Jan. 22) -- The injuction proceedings that were instituted by Ellis and Myers agains Othe Shuman, J.T. Schmidt, Joe Ohrt, Claude Clas, M. Binder, Claude Clements, E. Clements, Leslie Ball, Ben Cecil and T. Miles on a charge of shooting ducks on lands which the plaintiffs had leased from the Moulton Irrigated Lands company for hunting purposes, have been dismissed by Attorney thomas Rutledge, who represents Ellis and Myers, on the grounds that none of the ten had been seen on the lands this season.

Sacramento Union, 19 May 1916: COLUSA COUNTY HAS SEVERE HAILSTORM

Special to the Union. ARBUCKLE (May 18) -- The most severe hailstorm in the history of Colusa county struck the section northeast of Arbuckle this afternoon, when hail stones an inch in diamerter fell. The hail nearly destroyed the barley fields owned by George De bolt and thomas Ohm. Several chickens were killed by the hailstones. Considerable grain in the Grimes section was injured. Two inches of rail fell at Williams.
