Madera Biographies: BUTLER

 

 
K. W. BUTLER, M. D.

Dr. K. W. Butler is a native son of Madera County who has been practicing medicine at the county seat for the last two years.

I)r. Butler was born January 8, 1906, the son of Robert and Catherine (McHenry) Butler. The parents both came from Ireland. The elder Butler settled at Madera fifty years ago. Was first employed by the Italian Swiss Colony winery and later operated his own retail liquor business. Later he took up a farm a few miles south of Madera. He died in 1929.

Dr. Butter attended the Madera schools, and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California in 1927 and his medical degree from the University of California Medical school in 1927. He spent his internship at St. Luke’s hospital, San Francisco.

Dr. Butler is a member of the American Medical association, the California Medical association and the Fresno County Medical society; he is also a member of the Nu Sigma Nu Medical fraternity.

Dr. Butler married Lois Gibbs, daughter of J. B. Gibbs, a prominent citizen of Madera County. Mrs. Butler also attended the Madera schools and is a graduate of Mills College, California, where she received her A.A. degree.
